Iran Condemns US Policy as “Built on Lies,” Warns Against Threats Over Strait of Hormuz

Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqai has strongly criticized US policy toward Iran and the Middle East, accusing Washington of relying on misinformation rather than facts.

According to Iranian media, Baqai referenced Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, arguing that repeatedly believing one’s own falsehoods can eventually make it difficult to distinguish between truth and misrepresentation. He said the concept was relevant to what he described as current US governance and its regional policies.

Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi issued a warning in response to US President Donald Trump’s comments regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Gharibabadi said Iran would not be intimidated by US threats and maintained that Tehran has the authority to decide whether the strategic waterway remains open or closed.

The statements come amid continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington over regional security, US policy toward Iran and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz.
