Britain Rejects Netanyahu’s “Islamic Republic” Remark as Completely Unacceptable

London (HRNW)- The British government has strongly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s description of the UK as an “Islamic Republic,” calling the remarks “completely unacceptable” and confirming that the matter has been formally raised with the Israeli government.

Netanyahu made the controversial comments during a podcast interview while criticizing Britain’s current policies toward Israel. Israeli government spokesman David Manser later sought to clarify the remarks, saying Netanyahu was referring to similar comments previously made by US Vice President JD Vance.

The dispute comes amid growing tensions between Britain and Israel over the Gaza war, Palestinian statehood and Israeli policies in the occupied territories. Britain has increasingly voiced concerns over Israel’s military operations in Gaza, while Netanyahu has criticized what he views as growing opposition to Israel in Europe.

The latest remarks have added further strain to diplomatic relations between the UK and Israel.
