Karachi (HRNW) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Immigration Wing, has offloaded two passengers bound for Indonesia over their alleged links to a cyber fraud network, according to an FIA spokesperson.
The passengers were identified as Hanzala Azim, a resident of Faisalabad, and Ahmad Ali, a resident of Rawalpindi. Both were travelling on visit visas to Indonesia.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the passengers were intercepted during immigration clearance after being flagged on the basis of suspicious travel information and were subsequently taken for further verification.
During preliminary questioning, the individuals allegedly revealed that they had previously been associated with a China-based company, AB Technology, operating in Cambodia, which is suspected of involvement in online fraud activities.
They further stated that the company later shifted its operations to Indonesia and was being managed through an individual identified as “Jimi alias Jamshed.”
The FIA said that examination of the passengers’ mobile phones revealed suspicious chats, call center scripts, and other digital evidence suggesting involvement in fraudulent online operations.
The passengers allegedly admitted that they were provided scripted communication material to contact and engage with potential victims as part of the company’s operations.
They also claimed that “Jimi alias Jamshed” had offered them re-employment in Indonesia and arranged their travel logistics. The FIA further stated that the individuals confessed to contacting an agent and attempting to secure facilitation at Karachi Airport for immigration clearance.
One of the passengers, Ahmad Ali, reportedly stated that Rs. 300,000 was transferred into his bank account as “show money” by the alleged handler.
The FIA added that both individuals admitted to recruiting other persons into the same company’s operations.
Following the initial investigation, FIA Immigration officials offloaded both passengers and transferred them to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Karachi, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Further inquiry is underway.
