Riyadh (HRNW)- Saudi Arabia has rejected US President Donald Trump’s request to join the Abraham Accords with Israel, reaffirming that it will not normalize relations with Israel without the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
According to international media reports, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement emphasizing that the Kingdom’s position on the Palestinian issue remains unchanged.
The statement said that any possible agreement requires a clear, credible and irreversible path toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Saudi Arabia further stated that relations with Israel would only be possible if there are genuine guarantees for a two-state solution, stressing that lasting peace in the Middle East depends on a fair and comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian issue.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has repeatedly declared that Saudi Arabia will not recognize Israel without the creation of a Palestinian state.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud has also reiterated at the United Nations and various international forums that true regional stability can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump recently urged Muslim countries linked to ongoing Iran-related diplomatic efforts to join the Abraham Accords.
Trump stated that he raised the issue during telephone conversations with leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey and several other countries while discussing the Iran agreement.
