Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman Criticizes Petrol Price Hike, Calls Fuel Policy Unjust to Public

Islamabad (HRNW)- Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has strongly reacted to the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products. He said in a statement released on social media that the government is continuously increasing the prices of petrol and diesel and today the prices of both products have been increased by Rs 15 per liter once again.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the government has made petrol a source of income instead of a public need. The rulers refer to the global market, but the reality is that a heavy petroleum levy is being collected from the public, which has no direct connection with the actual price of petrol.
He added that the prices of petroleum products in the global market have decreased by about $ 8 in a few days, despite this, taxes and levies of more than Rs 150 per liter are being collected in the country. According to him, this burden is having the greatest impact on students, bicyclists and in-drive drivers, laborers, poor and middle class citizens, which is complete injustice.
Criticizing the ruling class, the Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that on the one hand, taxes are being collected strictly from the public, while on the other hand, the rulers’ lavish spending, privileges, planes worth billions of rupees, protocols and other facilities continue. He warned that this dual and class system cannot last for long.
