CTD Punjab Arrests 21 Suspected Terrorists in Intelligence-Based Operations

Lahore, Pakistan (HRNW) — The Counter Terrorism Department Punjab conducted large-scale intelligence-based operations across the province, arresting 21 suspected terrorists during 214 coordinated raids.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operations were carried out in multiple cities including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Khanewal, Mianwali, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Gujrat, Pakpattan, and Bahawalpur, based on credible intelligence inputs.

Authorities stated that a highly dangerous suspect named Pir Shams, allegedly linked with Fitna al-Khawarij, was arrested from Lahore along with explosive materials. In another operation, Abdul Latif was apprehended from Toba Tek Singh with explosives and was reportedly associated with the Baloch Liberation Army.

CTD officials confirmed the recovery of significant explosive materials including an improvised explosive device (IED), 17 detonators, 39 feet of safety fuse wire, prohibited stickers, literature, and cash. The suspects were allegedly planning attacks to spread fear and panic among the public.

Additionally, during the current week, CTD conducted 5,040 combing operations, interrogated 18,932 individuals, and detained 587 suspicious persons for further investigation.
