Bajaur, Pakistan (HRNW) — In Bajaur District, a suspected militant drone attack targeted a cricket ground, leaving three civilians injured.
According to security sources, the incident occurred in the Mamond tehsil, specifically in the Shahi Tangi area, where a quadcopter drone was reportedly used to carry out the हमला while a cricket match was in progress. The injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
A statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur indicated that during March and April 2026, cross-border shelling incidents were also reported from across the border, particularly affecting Mamond and Salarzai regions. These attacks allegedly resulted in the deaths of nine individuals, including three women and six children.
Local sources claimed that the latest हमला deliberately targeted civilians gathered at the cricket ground, suggesting an intent to spread fear and panic among the population. Reports also indicate the increasing use of drone technology in such attacks, with alleged video evidence circulating.
Experts noted that targeting civilian populations not only leads to loss of innocent lives but also heightens insecurity in the region. They emphasized the urgent need for effective measures to ensure civilian protection and prevent further escalation of violence.
