KARACHI (HRNW): The judicial commission established to investigate the devastating fire at the Gul Plaza shopping center has officially concluded its proceedings and is set to hand over its final findings to the Law Secretary on April 7, 2026. According to a formal communication sent by the Commission’s Registrar, Iqbal Hassan Khatti, the inquiry was conducted under Section 3 of the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance 1969, following a gazette notification issued on February 10, 2026.
Although the commission was originally granted an eight-week window to complete the investigation, it has managed to finalize the task ahead of schedule. The comprehensive report is accompanied by four supplementary volumes containing the complete record of evidence, witness statements, and forensic data reviewed during the sessions. The Registrar clarified that the entire record will be handed over to the Government of Sindh in a sealed state, noting that the provincial administration holds the ultimate authority to decide whether the contents of the report will be made public. The Law Secretary has been directed to be present at the Commission Secretariat within the Sindh High Court premises at 12:00 PM on April 7 to formally receive the documents.
