MT Karachi Becomes First Pakistani Ship to Cross Strait of Hormuz, Enters Arabian Sea

Karachi (HRNW)- The first Pakistani oil tanker to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, MT Karachi, has successfully entered the Arabian Sea from the Gulf of Oman and is now within Pakistani territorial waters.

According to officials, the vessel is expected to anchor at Karachi Port on March 18. The tanker is carrying approximately 80 million liters of crude oil.

Reports indicate that the ship was granted special permission by Iranian authorities to transit through the Strait of Hormuz and utilized Iranian territorial waters during its passage. The Pakistan Navy ensured full maritime security for the vessel throughout its journey.

According to international media sources, the payment for the crude oil cargo aboard MT Karachi was made in Chinese currency, highlighting evolving trade dynamics in the region.

The successful passage of MT Karachi marks a significant development in Pakistan’s maritime and energy sector amid ongoing regional tensions.
