Fujairah (HRNW)- A large oil depot in the strategically important port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates has reportedly been attacked by a drone. According to BBC journalist Nick Beake, the location plays a critical role in oil shipments and bunkering operations across the Middle East.
Fujairah holds significant geographical importance because it is situated on the Gulf of Oman rather than inside the Persian Gulf. This allows oil tankers to load and ship crude without passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime corridor that has become increasingly unstable amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Recent tensions have effectively disrupted shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, further elevating Fujairah’s strategic value for global energy supply chains.
Videos circulating widely on social media show thick clouds of black smoke rising from the oil complex on the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates. The incident comes only days after Iranian officials warned civilians living near UAE ports to move away from strategic infrastructure, raising serious concerns about the security of regional energy routes and global oil markets.
