Major CTD Operation in Lakki Marwat: 6 Terrorists Killed, Cache of Arms and Explosives Recovered

LAKKI MARWAT (HRNW): The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu Region has carried out a successful Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the Shagai area, within the jurisdiction of Gambila Police Station, Lakki Marwat. The operation resulted in the neutralization of six terrorists belonging to the “Fitna al-Khawarij” group.

According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched following confirmed reports regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. Upon spotting the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, the militants opened fire. The CTD personnel retaliated in self-defense, leading to an intense gunfight that lasted approximately 40 minutes. Following the exchange of fire, a search operation revealed the bodies of six terrorists, while others managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

The authorities recovered a significant amount of weaponry from the deceased, including:

  • 04 Kalashnikov rifles with 10 magazines and 43 rounds.

  • 02 9mm pistols with 04 magazines.

  • 08 Hand grenades and 01 IED (Improvised Explosive Device).

  • 04 Bandoliers and other tactical gear.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, and the Additional IG CTD praised the SWAT team for their professional expertise, courage, and timely action. The IGP reaffirmed the force’s commitment to peace, stating that the blood of the martyrs will not go in vain and that the police will continue to pursue terrorists to their safe havens until the menace is eradicated from the province.
