KP Government Considers Rs60 Billion Second Ring Road Project

Peshawar (HRNW)- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is considering the construction of a second ring road in the southern part of Peshawar, a major infrastructure project expected to cost between Rs50 billion and Rs60 billion.

An important meeting chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi reviewed various aspects of the Outer Ring Road project, which is proposed to be about 31 kilometers long and will cover the southern areas of the provincial capital.

According to the briefing, the project aims to reduce traffic congestion in Peshawar and promote commercial activities, with a proposed completion timeline of around three years. The Chief Minister directed officials to include suitable interchanges for public convenience and plan the road with future transportation needs in mind.

He also instructed authorities to coordinate with the National Highway Authority (NHA) to construct an interchange at the Peshawar Bus Terminal, which would allow traffic to move directly without entering the city. The meeting further directed that the possibility of adding BRT tracks along the new ring road should also be examined.
