Karachi (HRNW)- The parliamentary party meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami was held last night in Karachi Municipality under the chairmanship of opposition and parliamentary leader Saifuddin Advocate. The meeting was specially attended by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Munem Zafar Khan.
The opposition leader informed the council members about contacts with other parties and members, while detailed consultation and strategy regarding the no-confidence motion were considered. On this occasion, the process of signing the no-confidence motion was also ongoing. It should be noted that earlier the opposition had obtained the signatures of 29 women members, after the signature of the UC Chairman in the previous meeting, this number has exceeded 100. Addressing the meeting, Saifuddin Advocate said that the series of contacts with other parties present in the house is ongoing, in this regard, a very positive response has been received from other parties and there is a consensus that the Sindh government and the mayor have failed to bring any kind of improvement in Karachi city, every sector is in a state of disrepair while corruption is rampant in all institutions.
According to sources, Opposition Leader Saifuddin Advocate left for Lahore on a 4-day visit where he will attend an important meeting of the Central Majlis Shura of Jamaat-e-Islami.
It should be noted that the Sindh Local Government Act does not specify any limit of members to submit a no-confidence motion, while a simple majority is required for the success of the no-confidence motion. According to the act, in case of success of the motion, Murtaza Wahab will be dismissed as mayor, while a re-election will be held for the mayor of Karachi, in which Murtaza Wahab will not be able to participate, earlier, opposition sources had indicated that a no-confidence motion against the deputy mayor is not under consideration at the moment.
