Karachi (HRNW) — Among the victims of the Gul Plaza fire is a toy importer who has claimed that Rs. 70 million in cash was destroyed in the blaze.
Speaking to the media outside the plaza, trader Alauddin Shah said that they receive weekly cash collections, which are gathered on Friday and Saturday nights and usually deposited on Monday morning.
He stated that their office was located in the part of the building that did not collapse, and when they entered the premises with the help of rescue teams, they discovered that all the cash and important documents had been burned.
The trader further claimed that their valuable stock of merchandise and even house documents were lost in the fire.
The toy importer, who has been running his business for about 25 years, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, saying, “It’s heartbreaking, but nothing can be done now.”
