Google Opens First Pakistan Office in Islamabad, Boosting Digital Economy and IT Sector

Islamabad (HRNW)- Global technology company Google has officially established its first local office in Pakistan, marking a significant development for the country’s digital economy, information technology sector and young workforce.

During a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Google Vice President Wilson White and US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker unveiled the plaque for the new office.

Google’s direct presence in Pakistan comes as the government seeks to increase annual exports of IT and IT-enabled services to $30 billion under its Digital Nation Pakistan vision.

The new office is expected to create opportunities for IT investment, startups, application developers and young professionals. According to the company, Google’s platforms have contributed more than Rs3.9 trillion in economic activity in Pakistan and supported over 960,000 jobs during the past decade.

Google also plans to expand training in artificial intelligence and digital skills for Pakistani youth. The company is further planning the local assembly of 500,000 Chromebooks, with the potential for future exports to international markets.

The initiatives are expected to support Pakistan’s digital transformation and contribute toward the government’s goal of increasing IT exports to $30 billion annually.
