Quetta (HRNW)- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while chairing a meeting of the Balochistan Apex Committee on the National Action Plan in Quetta, directed authorities to further strengthen security arrangements for the Mineral Corridor.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir along with senior civil and military officials. The Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on Balochistan’s security situation, development projects, governance reforms, and counter-terrorism measures.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the establishment of a special security corridor in Balochistan’s Rakhshan Division through the deployment of Frontier Corps personnel. The plan includes additional FC wings, highway check posts, modern surveillance systems, and strengthened border posts.
He said Pakistan is rich in mineral resources and emphasized that a secure environment in Balochistan is essential for attracting both foreign and local investment. The Prime Minister also appreciated the Balochistan government’s measures based on merit and transparency.
Officials informed the meeting that all institutions remain actively engaged in counter-terrorism efforts, while notable progress has also been achieved in the health and education sectors. According to the briefing, no polio case has been reported in Balochistan since November 2024.
The meeting was also told that 99 percent of schools in the province are functional, while a solar energy project has benefited over 15,000 families and saved billions of rupees.
Federal ministers, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, and other senior officials attended the session, and participants expressed complete consensus on security and development initiatives.
