Karachi (HRNW) — Parents have approached the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh over alleged arbitrary practices and unlawful fee increases by the Beaconhouse School System.
A hearing was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Muhammad Sohail Rajput, during which parents presented several complaints against the school administration.
The hearing was attended by Special Secretary Education Shazia Qazi, Director General Private Schools Muhammad Afzal, and Additional Director Rafia Javed.
According to the parents, the school administration allegedly increases fees arbitrarily every year, placing an additional financial burden on families.
Parents also complained that students are required to change their school uniforms every two years, while expensive books and course materials must allegedly be purchased from designated vendors.
They further claimed that when one child moves to the next grade, younger siblings are not allowed to use the previous course books, forcing families to purchase new books again.
Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Muhammad Sohail Rajput directed the Director General Private Schools to submit a report by Tuesday.
Rajput said that legal action would be taken against private schools found violating the law.
The proceedings highlight broader concerns regarding private-school fee regulations, additional educational expenses, and the financial burden placed on families.
