Karachi (HRNW) — Another death from rabies has been reported in Sindh after an 11-year-old boy from Mirpurkhas died from the disease at Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital.
According to Dr. Irfan, the child had been receiving treatment in a special ward at Jinnah Hospital for the past two days. His relatives said he had been bitten by a dog approximately four months ago.
The family said the boy was brought to hospital after developing fever, irritability, and difficulty eating and drinking.
According to the Sindh Health Department, 19 people have died from rabies in the province so far this year. Of these, 11 deaths were reported at Indus Hospital and eight at Jinnah Hospital.
Health authorities emphasize that anyone bitten by a potentially rabid animal should seek immediate medical attention, as rabies is almost invariably fatal once clinical symptoms develop.
