Karachi (HRNW) — A judicial magistrate in Karachi’s East District expressed displeasure over the repeated absence of two prosecution witnesses during proceedings in the case involving the alleged leak of a video of late TV host Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
The accused, Dania Shah, appeared before the court.
Due to the continued absence of the two witnesses, the court directed the Director General of NADRA to block their national identity cards.
Dania Shah’s counsel, Liaquat Gabol Advocate, argued that his client has been appearing before the court for the past three years, while the prosecution has repeatedly failed to produce its witnesses.
The defence lawyer further claimed that the FIA has so far failed to establish that any video was recorded or sent from Dania Shah’s mobile phone.
Gabol said Dania Shah has been travelling from Lodhran to Karachi for three years to attend court proceedings, but the prosecution has still been unable to produce the witnesses.
The court directed the FIA to produce the prosecution witnesses by August 27.
Further proceedings will continue after the witnesses are presented before the court.
