Karachi (HRNW) — The Sindh High Court has disposed of a petition seeking physical remand of former DMC South chairman Malik Fayyaz, who was arrested in connection with the firing incident at the office of MNA Qadir Patel.
The petition stated that the trial court had sent the accused to judicial custody, arguing that keeping him in jail could affect the ongoing investigation.
The investigating officer requested that Malik Fayyaz be handed over to police custody so that the investigation could proceed further.
During the hearing, the Prosecutor General Sindh did not press for further proceedings on the application.
The court declared the petition infructuous and disposed of it, directing the investigating officer to interrogate the accused in jail.
The court further directed the parties to raise the matter before the trial court.
Former DMC South chairman Malik Fayyaz was arrested on August 13.
The FIR concerning the firing at Qadir Patel’s office was registered at Boat Basin Police Station on the complaint of a man identified as Shoaib Khan.
