Islamabad (HRNW) Ón the directions of the Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and under the supervision of Member (Taxpayers’ Services) Ms. Tehmina Aamer, the Taxpayers’ Services Wing (TPS) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) organized a Tax Awareness and Outreach Seminar at the PBC Headquarters (Radio Pakistan), Islamabad.
The seminar was part of FBR’s ongoing nationwide Tax Awareness Outreach Campaign aimed at promoting tax compliance, enhancing taxpayer facilitation, and building public confidence in the taxation system.
The FBR delegation was led by Mr. Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary (Tax Education & Facilitation), and included Mr. Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Second Secretary (Tax Facilitation), along with other officers of the TPS Wing. The session was attended by senior management and officials of Radio Pakistan, including Mr. Saeed Ahmed Sheikh, Director General, Mr. Muhammad Inam-ul-Haq, Finance Director, and officers and staff from headquarters, as well as representatives from other stations who joined via virtual link.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz provided an overview of FBR’s mandate, structure, and key functions. He highlighted various reform initiatives undertaken under the leadership of the Chairman FBR, including Point of Sale (POS) Integration, Track & Trace System, Digital Invoicing, Faceless Customs System, Cargo Tracking System, Direct Port Delivery, Reward & Rating System, and the use of Video Analytics for production monitoring in key sectors.
He further emphasized FBR’s firm commitment to eradicating corruption and ensuring transparency in the tax system. He noted that digitization of processes, minimization of human interaction through faceless customs and automated systems, and the deployment of technology-driven monitoring tools are key steps towards curbing discretionary practices and enhancing accountability. These reforms are aimed at building a fair, transparent, and trust-based taxation environment for all stakeholders.
The interactive session witnessed active participation from the audience, who raised queries primarily related to salary taxation and filing procedures. The questions were comprehensively addressed by the FBR team, contributing to enhanced understanding among participants.
Participants appreciated FBR’s efforts in conducting such outreach initiatives, recognizing their importance in fostering a culture of voluntary compliance and improving the perception of FBR as a transparent and taxpayer-friendly institution.
The seminar concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between FBR and Radio Pakistan representatives.
