Police Negligence in Lahore; Abducted Mother of Four Brutally Murdered After Pleas for Help Ignored

LAHORE (HRNW): A harrowing case of alleged police incompetence and systemic apathy has emerged from Shahdara Town, where a 30-year-old woman named Saira was found brutally murdered after police repeatedly refused to register her abduction case. Saira, a mother of four who was recently out on bail, was allegedly kidnapped by her in-laws outside the Ferozewala court two days ago. Despite her elderly mother’s desperate pleas for help at the Ferozewala, Sabzazar, and Shahdara Town police stations, officials reportedly dismissed her concerns with insensitive remarks, suggesting the victim had “eloped” and would return on her own. The Shahdara Town police reportedly forced the mother to sign a pre-written application and delayed any action, telling her to return the following morning—a delay that proved fatal.

The details of the murder discovered in the Nangal Sadan area of Muridke are catastrophic; the victim was subjected to inhumane torture, including cigarette burns and bodily mutilation, before being shot six times. In a further display of disrespect, the Muridke Sadar police reportedly transported Saira’s body to the hospital in a garbage trolley. It was only after the news of her gruesome death broke that the Shahdara Town police finally registered an abduction case to cover their prior inaction. The victim’s mother has made a heart-wrenching appeal to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and senior police officials, demanding the immediate arrest of the killers and strict departmental action against the negligent officers whose indifference led to her daughter’s agonizing end.
