Karachi (HRNW) — In Karachi, where 40,000 Chinchi rickshaws are already banned from 20 major roads, the traffic police have now recommended restrictions on five additional key routes. In the next phase, authorities are also planning to impose fitness restrictions on Chinchi rickshaws.
According to sources, the proposed routes include:
- Malir Halt to Gulshan-e-Hadeed via National Highway
- Sheerin Jinnah Colony to Keamari and Keamari to Kharadar Jamaat Khana
- North Nazimabad to Numaish Chowrangi
- Liaquatabad No. 10 to Numaish Chowrangi

Sources said the decision targets areas where public transport, including small and large buses, is already providing travel facilities, making Chinchi routes redundant.
A formal recommendation letter is being sent by the traffic police to the relevant department to implement the ban, aimed at improving traffic flow and public safety in the city.
