KARACHI (HRNW)- In a disturbing case of “protectors becoming predators,” a citizen has approached the City Court seeking the registration of a formal criminal case against high-ranking police officials for alleged kidnapping, threats, and extortion of millions of rupees.
The petitioner, Muhammad Nasir, has filed a plea requesting the court to order a case against Sub-Inspector Allah Rakha and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jameel-ud-Din. The petition names the IG Sindh, SSP Central, and the SHOs of Hyderi and Gulberg police stations as respondents.
Details of the Allegations:
-
The Dispute: The petitioner stated that he had a personal conflict with his brother, Arshad, and others in the Karimabad area, during which he was physically assaulted.
-
Victimization by Police: When Nasir approached the police to report the assault, the officers allegedly registered a case against him instead of the attackers.
-
Extortion & Threats: The petitioner claims that Sub-Inspector Allah Rakha and ASI Jameel-ud-Din threatened to implicate him in false cases and even label him as a “Katcha Bandit” (notorious dacoit).
-
Bribe Recovery: Under duress, the officers allegedly extorted 1 million PKR and an iPhone from the petitioner. Despite this, they are reportedly demanding an additional 5 million PKR.
-
Incomplete Action: While departmental action has reportedly led to the dismissal of Allah Rakha and the demotion of Jameel-ud-Din, the petitioner argues that a criminal case has yet to be registered against them for their crimes.
The court has been requested to ensure that the law is applied equally and that the accused officers face criminal prosecution for their abuse of power.
