Kenya Helicopter Crash Kills Seven, Including Five Americans and Ecuador’s Intelligence Chief

Nairobi (HRNW) — A tourist helicopter crashed in Samburu County, northern Kenya, on Wednesday, killing all seven people on board, including five American citizens and Ecuador’s intelligence chief Michele Sensi-Contugi.

Sensi-Contugi’s wife, Stephany Hollihan, was also among those killed in the crash. The helicopter was carrying six passengers and a pilot when it went down near Mount Ololokwe at approximately 9:13 a.m. local time.

According to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, the aircraft was operating a scenic flight from the Loisaba wildlife conservancy to the Ewaso Nyiro area when the accident occurred.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Rescue and recovery operations were reportedly complicated by difficult terrain and fire at the crash site.
