Islamabad Police Constable Suspended After Altercation with Female Journalist; IG Orders Strict Action

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has taken immediate notice of an incident involving a police constable’s rude behavior and verbal altercation with a female journalist. The IG has ordered the suspension and charge-sheeting of the official, while issuing a fresh code of ethics for the entire force.

Immediate Disciplinary and Legal Action

Following the incident, IG Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has implemented the following measures:

  • Suspension: The constable involved in the altercation has been suspended from duty and officially charge-sheeted.

  • Registration of Case: The IG has directed that a formal FIR be registered immediately upon the submission of a written application by the female journalist.

  • Zero Tolerance: The police chief emphasized that misconduct, especially toward media personnel and citizens, will not be overlooked.

New Conduct Guidelines: “Salam First, Kalam Second”

In a move to reform the public-interaction style of the capital’s police, IG Rizvi has issued a set of strict moral and professional instructions:

  • Core Motto: All officers and personnel have been instructed to ensure the practice of “Salam First, Kalam Second” (Salutation before conversation) when interacting with the public.

  • Courteous Conduct: The IG directed the force to prioritize patience and politeness while upholding the law. “Identify a citizen’s mistake with calmness and ethics, not aggression,” he stated.

  • Protection of Vulnerable Groups: Any mistreatment of women, the elderly, children, or persons with disabilities has been declared “unbearable” and will lead to swift termination or legal action.
