Punjab Government Halts Purchase of 100 Vehicles Under Austerity and Energy-Saving Measures

Lahore (HRNW)- The Punjab government has adopted austerity measures in response to the ongoing global energy crisis and has decided to stop the purchase of 100 vehicles for various departments.

According to Punjab government sources, no formal order for the purchase of new vehicles has been issued, nor has any payment been made so far. Officials say there are concerns that several development and administrative projects may be affected due to the continuing war situation in the Middle East and its impact on global energy markets.

In addition, the purchase of two bulletproof vehicles has also been suspended as part of the cost-cutting policy.

Sources added that although several departments currently require new vehicles, they have been instructed to continue using existing old vehicles for the time being.

The government has further decided that whenever future vehicle purchases are made, priority will be given to hybrid or electric vehicles in line with modern energy-saving and environmentally friendly policies.

This move reflects the Punjab government’s efforts to reduce expenditures, conserve energy resources, and adapt to the current global economic and fuel challenges.
