Waziristan (HRNW)- Good news has emerged from Pakistan’s oil and gas sector as gas and condensate production has officially started from the Spin WAM-1 well in the Waziristan block.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik inaugurated the Spin WAM-1 project, marking an important milestone for the country’s energy sector.
According to Mari Energies, the discovery at Spin WAM-1 will play a key role in strengthening Pakistan’s energy security, with initial gas production estimated at 40 MMSCFD (Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day).
With the addition of this new production, the total gas supply from the Waziristan block has now reached approximately 100 MMSCFD.
The Petroleum Minister appreciated the sacrifices and support of law enforcement agencies, saying their role in ensuring the successful completion of the project is highly commendable.
Mari Energies further stated that both Shiva-1 and Spin WAM-1 wells have now been connected to the national gas grid, which will help improve domestic energy supply and reduce dependence on imported fuel.
The project is a joint venture involving Mari Energies, OGDCL, and Orient Petroleum.
Officials also expressed optimism that more exploration and production projects are expected in Waziristan, which could further strengthen Pakistan’s local hydrocarbon resources.
