US Defense Secretary Threatens Escalation as Iran War Reaches Decisive Phase

Washington (HRNW) – US Defense Secretary Pat Hegseth has warned that the conflict with Iran could escalate further if Tehran does not accept the terms of ongoing negotiations. His remarks came shortly after Iran targeted a Dubai oil tanker, marking a new wave of attacks on oil ships in the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz following US and Israeli strikes on February 28.

Hegseth stated that the US has more options than Iran and the coming days will be decisive. He emphasized that attacks on Iran’s production and research sites are ongoing, with more than 150 Iranian ships captured, while stressing the importance of unpredictability in military strategy. US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kaine confirmed that Iran’s capabilities are being continuously targeted.

Iran, however, continues to resist, calling US peace proposals unrealistic and aggressive.
