Riyadh (HRNW) – British Defense Secretary John Haley has announced that the UK will deploy air defense equipment and troops to support allies in the Middle East amid ongoing attacks linked to Iran. Haley’s visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain focused on strengthening cooperation for the security of the Strait of Hormuz region.
The UK will deploy the Sky Sabre ground-based air defense system in Saudi Arabia, increase Typhoon fighter jet operations in Qatar, and incorporate the Lightweight Multi-Role Launcher in Bahrain. Haley said around 1,000 British troops will assist in installing, training, and operating the defense systems, emphasizing support for Gulf partners and a commitment to resolving the conflict.
