Washington (HRNW)- The ongoing war against Iran has triggered a new wave of debate in United States domestic politics, exposing clear divisions within President Donald Trump’s Republican Party.
According to reports, while some party leaders and activists support the military action against Iran, many conservative voices have strongly criticized the conflict, describing it as unnecessary and risky.
In several Republican circles, the view is gaining traction that the war largely serves Israeli strategic interests, and that the United States should avoid becoming directly involved in another prolonged foreign conflict.
Prominent American media personality Tucker Carlson openly stated that the United States should withdraw from the conflict as soon as possible. Reports indicate that he met President Donald Trump last month and attempted to persuade him against launching military action against Iran.
Similarly, well-known podcaster Joe Rogan described the war as “extremely crazy,” while Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene argued that American voters had supported leaders who promised to avoid further foreign wars.
The issue has also created divisions within the U.S. Congress. Republican Congressman Thomas Massie introduced a bill that would have allowed Congress to veto military action against Iran, but the proposal ultimately failed.
According to recent polling data, about 54 percent of Americans disapprove of President Trump’s policy toward Iran. While a large portion of Republican voters still support the military campaign, ideological differences within the party are becoming increasingly visible.
