Washington (HRNW)- The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that US forces carried out a new wave of strikes against Iranian military targets, hitting several facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted air-defense installations, radar systems, naval assets, military centers, mine-laying systems and communication facilities.
US military officials said the strikes followed alleged attempts to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as recent attempts by the IRGC to target US military personnel.
CENTCOM said more than 50,000 US military personnel are currently deployed across the Middle East. The command added that American forces remain on heightened alert and are prepared to conduct further military operations if ordered by the US president.
