Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has claimed that at least 11 people were killed and several others injured in the latest US missile strikes on its territory, according to Iranian state media.
Iranian officials said US forces targeted three sites in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, killing seven people and injuring eight others. The injured were taken to hospitals, while rescue operations continued in the affected areas.
According to Iranian news agency IRNA, the deputy governor of Khuzestan for security and law enforcement affairs confirmed that three locations in the province were targeted in the overnight strikes.
Iranian officials said additional areas across the country were also targeted, although complete details of casualties and material damage were not immediately available.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Red Crescent reported that a wedding ceremony in the Sirik region of southern Iran was also hit. Four people, including a child, were reportedly killed, while more than 50 others were injured. Rescue teams reached the site and transported the wounded to hospitals.
The reported strikes come amid a renewed escalation in military tensions between Iran and the United States. Iran has also claimed attacks against US military bases and American interests in the region.
The casualty figures reported by Iranian authorities could not immediately be independently verified. However, the reported deaths in Khuzestan and Sirik have highlighted the growing humanitarian impact of the conflict.
