Lahore (HRNW)- Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani stated that Pakistan’s role in mediating tensions between Iran and the United States is a significant diplomatic victory for the country. Speaking to the media after inaugurating the 11th three-day Pakistan Footwear Material and Machinery Show 2026 at Expo Center Lahore, he emphasized the need for unity among all political parties.
Gilani urged political forces to come together on one platform for the sake of the country’s sovereignty, integrity, democracy, and economic stability, stressing that this is not a time for political point-scoring. He noted that the world is currently watching Pakistan’s role and expressed hope that the country will succeed in promoting peace between Iran and the US.
Responding to questions, he said matters related to the release of the PTI founder fall under the jurisdiction of the judiciary. He also highlighted Pakistan’s responsible conduct despite being a nuclear power during tensions with India. Addressing concerns about the purchase of a luxury car worth Rs90 million, Gilani clarified that it was acquired in accordance with the law and was intended for the opposition leader.
