ISLAMABAD (HRNW): The Pakistan Airports Authority has officially extended the ban on Indian aircraft entering Pakistani airspace for an additional month, according to a NOTAM issued on Wednesday afternoon. The directive stipulates that all Indian commercial airlines, military aircraft, and any planes registered in India or operated by Indian entities will remain barred from Pakistani skies until 5:00 AM on April 24, 2026.
This restrictive measure was first implemented on April 23, 2025, amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. With this latest extension, the total duration of the airspace closure will complete a full year. The ongoing ban continues to have a massive financial and operational impact on India’s aviation sector, affecting over 200 commercial flights daily. Indian carriers have reportedly suffered losses amounting to billions of rupees due to the necessity of rerouting long-haul flights, establishing new technical stops in third countries, and the subsequent shift of passengers to international competitors.
