Brussels (HRNW)- A two-day meeting of political and military opponents of the Afghan Taliban was held at the European Parliament in Brussels, where participants strongly criticized the regime’s extremist policies and warned of growing global security concerns.
Former Afghan parliamentarian Fawzia Kofi, addressing the gathering, said the Taliban have failed to honor commitments made during the Doha talks and have instead turned Afghanistan into a safe haven for violent extremist groups. She highlighted the systematic exclusion of women from political, social, and public life, describing it as institutionalized gender discrimination.
Renowned researcher and Afghan public policy expert Zalmai Nashit warned that the Afghan crisis is no longer just a humanitarian issue but a serious threat to European security and regional stability. He emphasized that the continuation of Taliban rule could strengthen extremist networks and escalate conflicts.
Former Afghan Commissioner for Administrative Reforms Alia Yilmaz stressed that protecting the rights of Afghan women is both a moral duty and a strategic necessity for long-term peace and stability in the region.
According to international experts, the policies of the Afghan Taliban have pushed Afghanistan into deeper global isolation, with increasing concerns over terrorism, drug trafficking, and social instability. Analysts believe these developments are turning Afghanistan into a failing state, with severe consequences for its people.
