“No Justification to Remain in Government After Unilateral Decision” — MNA Syed Waseem Hussain on Governor Sindh’s Removal

KARACHI (HRNW): Syed Waseem Hussain, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has issued a sharp reaction following the sudden removal of the Governor of Sindh. He termed the move a “unilateral decision” that undermines the constitutional rights of allied parties.

In a press statement, MNA Waseem Hussain highlighted the unprecedented public reaction to the change in the Governor House. “For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the public has become deeply emotional over the departure of a ‘People’s Governor’ (Awami Governor),” he remarked, referring to the widespread popularity the outgoing official enjoyed among the citizens of Sindh.

Key Points of the Reaction:

  • Constitutional Right: The MNA emphasized that MQM-P is a key ally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and that the constitutional post of the Governor of Sindh is a rightful entitlement of MQM-P under their political agreements.

  • Coalition Dynamics: He criticized the federal government for taking such a significant step without mutual consultation, stating that such actions damage the spirit of the coalition.

  • Ultimatum to the Government: “After such a unilateral decision, there remains no moral or political justification for MQM-P to continue sitting in the government,” Syed Waseem Hussain declared.

The statement has added to the growing political friction between the ruling PML-N and its largest ally in Sindh. Sources within MQM-P indicate that the party leadership is currently in high-level consultations to decide their future course of action regarding their alliance with the federal government.
