Bilawal Bhutto Inaugurates NED Engineering Institute in Tharparkar; Vows to Shield Thar’s Coal Wealth from “Islamabad’s Exploitation”

Tharparkar, Pakistan (HRNW)- Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, formally inaugurated the Thar Institute of Engineering, Sciences, and Technology (affiliated with NED University) today on the Mithi-Islamkot Road. During the ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto hit back at what he described as a “deliberate campaign” of character assassination against Sindh, stating that a false narrative is often created to justify siphoning Thar’s resources toward Islamabad.

Drawing a massive comparison, the PPP Chairman asserted that Tharparkar possesses coal reserves equivalent to Saudi Arabia’s oil wealth. He lamented that past conspiracies had undermined Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision for the region but noted that Thar coal is now driving an economic revolution—even benefiting industrial hubs like Faisalabad. Bilawal announced that a significant portion of coal profits would be channeled into the Thar Foundation for local development. Reaffirming the PPP’s “pro-poor” stance, he emphasized that the establishment of this NED campus fulfills a long-standing demand of the local youth, proving that Sindh’s path to progress is independent of federal dictates.
