Goa (HRNW) — At least 23 people were killed when a massive fire broke out at a nightclub in the Arpora district of India’s coastal state of Goa, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to international news agencies, the blaze was triggered by a gas cylinder explosion inside the club. The fire quickly engulfed the building, leaving staff members and tourists trapped inside.
Rescue and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene, working to control the flames and evacuate victims. Several injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident. He said authorities will examine whether fire safety protocols and building regulations were properly followed. “Strict action will be taken against those found responsible,” he added.
Officials said relief and recovery operations are still underway, and efforts are being made to identify the deceased.
