Mardan: Major Blow to Tobacco Smuggling — Largest Illegal Cigarette Manufacturing Machinery Seized

Mardan (HRNW) — In a significant breakthrough against tobacco smuggling, authorities in Mardan have seized what officials describe as the largest illegal cigarette manufacturing machinery ever discovered in the region.

According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the raided facility was generating an estimated daily revenue of around PKR 45 million through illicit cigarette production.

FBR officials confirmed that the Chief Commissioner Peshawar and his enforcement team conducted the successful operation without yielding to any external pressure.

The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Peshawar led the raid on a private company’s cigarette factory in Mardan, which was allegedly running a secret, unregistered manufacturing plant.

Authorities reported that the seized machinery had a daily production capacity of approximately 7,000 kilograms of tobacco. The unregistered machines, used specifically for illegal cigarette manufacturing, have been confiscated, and legal proceedings have begun.

FBR added that such operations will play a vital role in curbing illegal tobacco production and ensuring compliance with tax and health regulations across Pakistan.
