Easter Greetings: President and Prime Minister Laud Christian Community’s Role in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended their heartfelt congratulations to the Christian citizens of Pakistan and the global Christian community on the occasion of Easter. In their special messages, both leaders emphasized that Easter conveys a powerful message of compassion, hope, renewal, and the victory of good over evil.

President Asif Ali Zardari’s Message

The President highlighted that the values of Easter are not just ideological in Pakistan but are reflected in the practical contributions of the Christian community:

  • Historical Contributions: The President paid tribute to the historic role of S.P. Singha, the Christian Speaker of the Punjab Assembly during the Pakistan Movement, and the legendary bravery of Cecil Chaudhry during the 1965 war.

  • National Service: He acknowledged the invaluable services of Christian men and women in schools, hospitals, government services, and the Armed Forces, stating they deserve the highest recognition and respect.

  • Constitutional Guarantees: President Zardari reaffirmed that the state is committed to ensuring that all communities enjoy the equality, freedom, and protection envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Message

The Prime Minister characterized Easter as a harbinger of peace, stability, and prosperity:

  • Promoting Tolerance: In the current global climate, the Prime Minister stressed that the teachings of peace, sacrifice, and brotherhood found in all religions have become more vital than ever.

  • Government Priorities: He reiterated that the protection of the religious, economic, and educational rights of minorities is a top priority for the government.
