KARACHI (HRNW): District West Police have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive quantity of hazardous Gutka Mawa into Karachi, arresting four suspects in an intelligence-based operation near Hub. According to SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastoi, the Manghopir police conducted the raid and recovered prepared Gutka valued at hundreds of thousands of rupees. The suspects—identified as Rahim Bakhsh, Nayan, Muhammad Rauf, and Ayub—had hidden the contraband inside a passenger bus, strategically using the presence of women and children as a cover to evade law enforcement scrutiny. During the search, police recovered 7,200 individual sachets of Gutka Mawa packed across 720 larger bags. The passenger bus utilized for the smuggling operation has been impounded, and formal legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals. SSP Tariq Elahi Mastoi emphasized that the crackdown on the supply and smuggling of injurious substances will continue to protect public health and maintain the rule of law.
