PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets VEON CEO, Reaffirms Support for Digital Investment and 5G Expansion

Islamabad (HRNW)- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with a delegation of global digital operator VEON Group led by CEO Can Terzi Oglu in Islamabad. The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation and conveyed his best wishes.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the government is fully committed to facilitating investment by international investors, especially in the information technology sector. He emphasized that Pakistan aims to ensure transparency while embracing digitalization in the economy.

He further stated that after the auction of the 5G spectrum to telecom operators in the country, all relevant institutions are working together in close coordination to provide quality internet services to the public.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan’s young population can play a vital role in strengthening the economy and improving service delivery through active participation in information technology and digital platforms.

He noted that the growing interest of Pakistan’s youth in telecom and IT sectors is attracting international investors.

On this occasion, VEON Group CEO Can Terzi Oglu thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception at the Prime Minister House and praised the government’s initiatives for promoting a cashless and fully digital economy.

He also expressed the company’s intention to increase further investments in Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, CEO of Jazz World Amir Ibrahim, and other relevant officials.
