Israeli Airstrike Hits Iran’s South Pars Gas Field, Massive Fire Erupts

Asaluyeh (HRNW)- The Israeli military has reportedly targeted Iran’s South Pars gas field, the world’s largest natural gas reserve, in an airstrike that triggered a massive fire.

According to international news agencies, a petrochemical complex located within the South Pars gas field in southern Iran was struck. The Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that the attack occurred on Wednesday, and emergency response teams, including firefighters, have been deployed to control the blaze.

The South Pars gas field, situated in the Persian Gulf near Asaluyeh, is jointly shared by Iran and Qatar and plays a critical role in global energy supply. Reports indicate that the field contributes significantly to Iran’s domestic natural gas consumption and has been operational in the energy sector since the 1990s.

Israeli media have previously reported that the gas field meets a major portion of Iran’s energy needs. This is not the first time the facility has been targeted, as similar strikes were reported during the 12-day conflict in June last year.

Authorities continue to assess the damage, while efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing.
