Islamabad (HRNW)- The federal government has imposed a complete ban on all official foreign visits for the next two months as part of new measures under the fuel conservation and austerity policy.
According to official details, the government has also issued a notification directing salary deductions for senior officers of government corporations, autonomous bodies, regulatory authorities, and government-owned enterprises for a period of two months. The deducted amount will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Provident Fund 2026.
The notification states that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved these measures based on the recommendations of the Monitoring Committee, in continuation of the instructions issued by the Cabinet Division on March 9 and 10, 2026.
Salary Deduction Details:

5% deduction for officers earning Rs 300,000 to Rs 1 million per month

15% deduction for officers earning Rs 1 million to Rs 2 million per month

25% deduction for officers earning Rs 2 million to Rs 3 million per month

30% deduction for officers earning more than Rs 3 million per month
These deductions will apply for two months and will be transferred to the Prime Minister’s Provident Fund 2026.
In addition, the notification states that 100% of the fees received by government nominees for attending board meetings of public and private companies will also be deposited into the same fund for the next two months.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also been directed that on March 23, 2026, Pakistani embassies abroad will observe the day with simple flag-hoisting ceremonies instead of large celebrations. Furthermore, a 20% reduction in the fourth-quarter budget of foreign missions and a two-day salary deduction for officers will also be implemented.
