Human Rights and Protection of Citizens
Bank fraud, identity misuse, skimming and online scams can directly affect citizens’ financial security, privacy and fundamental rights. While effective action against digital crime is necessary, investigations and arrests should also be conducted transparently, with full respect for the legal rights of suspects, including due process, access to legal counsel and the right to a fair trial.
Stronger cooperation between law-enforcement agencies, financial institutions and digital platforms is also important to protect citizens from online and financial fraud.
