Iran Grants Special Passage to Iraqi Oil Tankers Through Strait of Hormuz

Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has granted special permission for several Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz following repeated diplomatic requests from Baghdad.

According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, facilitating the passage of Iraqi oil tankers was among the key requests raised during Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf’s recent visit to Iraq. The Iraqi president confirmed that Iran had recently allowed several vessels carrying Iraqi oil to pass through the strategic waterway and expressed gratitude for the move.

However, he said the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains complex, with maritime traffic significantly below pre-war levels and vessels still facing security risks.

Iraq has been among the countries most affected by disruptions to the waterway. Before the war, Iraq produced around 4 million barrels of oil per day, but its oil exports have been severely affected since the Strait of Hormuz was closed.
