Hub (HRNW): Lawyers of the Hub Bar Association continued their protest today over their demands. Police entry into the court premises remains completely restricted, while judicial proceedings and court operations have been fully disrupted.
The protesting lawyers said they would continue their demonstration until their demands are accepted. They have made it clear that the protest will not end until the authorities address their concerns.
The ongoing protest has also caused difficulties for litigants and other citizens visiting the court, while the suspension of hearings and judicial proceedings has affected access to justice.
Human Rights and Justice Perspective
HRNW notes that peaceful protest by lawyers and their right to raise concerns are linked to the fundamental rights of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. At the same time, the right of citizens to timely and effective access to justice must also be protected.
The relevant authorities, lawyers and state institutions should pursue a peaceful resolution through dialogue so that legitimate grievances can be addressed without unnecessarily disrupting the judicial rights of ordinary citizens.
