Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Calls for 28th Amendment to Safeguard Democracy

KARACHI: (HRNW) In a press conference held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui demanded the immediate introduction of the 28th Amendment in the National Assembly to reinforce the country’s democratic framework. Siddiqui emphasized that MQM-P stands firmly with the government to protect democratic stability and the rule of law, noting that national unity is more critical now than ever before. He appealed to all ethnicities and linguistic groups across Pakistan to demonstrate solidarity with the Pakistan Army, particularly as the nation faces external pressures. Addressing religious leaders, he urged scholars of all sects to maintain sectarian harmony, warning that adversaries are actively conspiring to incite internal conflict on sectarian lines. Highlighting the strategic importance of Karachi, Siddiqui remarked that the city remains a primary target for hostile elements due to its role as the nation’s economic and strategic backbone. He concluded by stating that the peace of Karachi is a guarantee for the survival of Pakistan, as the city serves as a diverse melting pot that represents and embraces citizens from every corner of the country.
