Lucknow (HRNW)- A powerful storm system that struck India’s Uttar Pradesh state has killed at least 90 people so far, with authorities warning that the death toll may still rise.
According to media reports, severe storms, heavy rain, and lightning have caused widespread destruction across the region, leaving at least 90 people dead and dozens injured.
Indian authorities said strong winds uprooted trees, toppled electricity poles and billboards, and caused several houses to collapse, leading to extensive damage in multiple districts.
The worst-affected areas include Fatehpur, Bareilly, Prayagraj, and Bhadohi, where rescue and relief operations are currently underway.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued fresh warnings for more severe weather, including strong winds and hailstorms, advising residents to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors.
